This first edition of the international Microfluidic Horizons conference will take place in the beautiful city of Padova, Italy. The conference will be hosted at the San Gaetano Cultural Centre on May 18 and 22, 2026. This venue is ideally located in the historic city center, within walking distance of hotels, restaurants, and major sights, making it easy to enjoy Padova while attending the event.
We recommend that participants stay in hotels in the city center or near the train station. Both areas offer excellent connections and the San Gaetano venue is easily reachable on foot or by public transport.

Scope of the conference
Welcome to Microfluidic Horizons 2026, hosted by the University of Padova, one of the pioneering incubators of microfluidics in Italy. For over two decades, we’ve been at the forefront of microfluidic research, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible at the microscale.
Conference topics includes: microfluidics and nanofluidics, soft matter and interfacial phenomena, lab-on-a-chip and point-of-care technologies, bioinspired and biomimetic microfluidics, microfluidics for life sciences, chemical and physical sensing, materials and fabrication, organ-on-chip and tissue engineering platforms, advanced imaging and analysis techniques, environmental and energy applications.

The San Gaetano Cultural Centre is a remarkable example of historic architecture reimagined as a modern cultural hub. Originally a 16th-century Theatine convent and church, the building has been beautifully restored to blend its Renaissance and Baroque features, such as elegant arcades, high vaulted ceilings, and frescoed interiors, with contemporary exhibition and conference spaces. Today, San Gaetano hosts exhibitions, public events, and conferences, offering a unique atmosphere that combines Padova’s artistic heritage with a vibrant, open setting in the heart of the city.
